The Seadog Trust is changing...

A lot has changed since Seadog Trust was first formed, not least the fact that the football club the Trust was created for no longer exists.  This means of course that the Trust is no longer looking to become a shareholder in Scarborough FC, or trying to get a director on the board of the old club.

In fact, the Trust is itself now a football club in its own right.

This means that all members of the Trust are in fact direct shareholders of the football club.
The Trust/football club is still an Industrial & Provident Society, and is still registered with the Financial Services Authority as Scarborough Football Club Supporters Society Ltd.  Some changes will need to be made to the Society rules at the upcoming AGM to reflect the fact that we are now directly a football club, but rest assured that we are still adhering to the best practise guidelines for a Supporters' Trust, as laid down by Supporters Direct.  We will also be proposing to change the Society name to include 'Athletic'.

So what is changing with Seadog Trust?  Well, we want to make it crystal clear to fans that
the Trust IS the football club, so we are going to do away with the name Seadog Trust. ;

This means that Trust members can happily say that they are members of Scarborough Athletic FC.  Don't worry though, the Trust structure will still be there, just as it always has been.
It's just a simple name change to get fans feeling more connected to their football club.
We will over time be issuing revised share certificates once the Society name change has been agreed by the FSA.

In addition both websites have been merged together, bringing all the information pertaining to Scarborough Athletic FC under one banner.  All the information from the original Trust website can be found here, and we will continue to publish board agendas and minutes for fans to read.

Seadog Trust is a Supporters' Trust that was formed for Scarborough FC fans. It was officially registered as an Industrial & Provident Society with the FSA in September 2006 with the assistance of Supporters Direct. After the liquidation of Scarborough FC in June 2007, the Trust formed a new club - Scarborough Athletic FC. Seadog Trust owns 100% of this club and this makes each member of Seadog Trust equal shareholders of Scarborough Athletic FC. Each share is worth £1 and these shares cannot be traded or transferred. The share entitles each member to one vote at AGMs and Elections.

Seadog Trust is an entirely democratic and not-for-profit organisation.

Aims of Seadog Trust
  1. To ensure Scarborough Athletic Football Club works closely with its supporters and the local community to ensure that the views of the supporters and the local community are fully represented in the running of the new club.
  2. To benefit present and future members of the community served by the club by promoting and developing football as a recreational facility, sporting activity and focus for community involvement.
  3. To encourage the Club to play football at the highest level possible, but always operating within a framework of responsible and prudent financial management.
  4. To ensure that Scarborough Athletic Football Club returns to the Borough of Scarborough in facilities that benefit the wider sporting community, that are sufficient to provide the club with future growth and that ensure the club is financially viable.
  5. To be an inclusive organisation that represents the views of all supporters of the club through open, affordable membership, and consultation with all supporters and supporters groups, regardless of whether they are members.
